QMIC Implementation: Medical Information
QMIC means "Quality for Medical Information and Communication" and it is a system developed by TNO Health Trust which enables commercial and non-commercial organizations to certify their internet pages according to the QMIC Essential Requirements. Compliance with the QMIC system guarantees reliable medical information, communication and transactions in the internet. The aim of the QMIC certified organizations is obtaining the public trust for the internet products and services they provide.
In order to obtain the authorization from TNO Health Trust for self-certification of their web pages, the organization must establish a quality system and submit a product "Compliance Dossier" to TNO Health Trust. The risk class of the product or service determines the extent of the mandatory requirements for the organization quality system.
The internet products and services which are considered under the QMIC system range from passive information about medical topics or products to sales of medical devices or medicines or food supplements at the internet and medical consulting trough the internet, including exchange of "Electronic Patient Files" among authorized professionals. The target organizations for the QMIC certification are, among others:
- Medical and pharmaceutical organizations
- Pharmaceutical companies
- Medical devices suppliers
On behalf of TNO Health Trust, we closely supervise the conformity procedure of each participant organization ensuring that the certification is a short training period for the participant instead of a burden.
